Founder & Managing Director
Berkeley has nearly three decades of experience in advising organisations at national and international level. A specialist in market access and external affairs in the life sciences sector, Berkeley has been involved in hundreds of health technology assessments and commissioning decisions (including nearly 30 NICE appeals). Berkeley also provides training and senior counsel to a number of high-profile organisations and individuals, providing perspective and strategic oversight. As Decideum’s senior consulting director, Berkeley oversees the management of the company’s clients and provides support and guidance to its staff. Prior to founding Decideum, Berkeley enjoyed a varied career in politics and consultancy.
Chairman and Senior Counsel
David has over 30 years of pharma experience. He spent 10 years as Managing Director of Merck KGaA pharmaceutical affiliates; firstly, in Australia and New Zealand and then back in the UK and Ireland. He is a past Chairman of the European Medicines Group.
David’s Decideum role has three major threads; he is a critical friend to the business, he supports business development and he supports & advises senior colleagues within client companies.
Drew’s detailed knowledge of the issues surrounding access to medicines and the wider implications for social policy has been developed through over 30 years working within and alongside the pharmaceutical industry. He has designed and delivered numerous successful public affairs programmes at UK and European level. Drew combines expertise in public affairs with previous experience in public relations and marketing, to provide strategic counsel on a wide variety of communications programmes that focus on regulatory reform.
Claudia is an experienced government affairs professional and communications strategist. She develops and delivers highly effective public policy programmes including parliamentary advocacy, stakeholder engagement and regulatory reform across a range of sectors. Claudia’s background is in the not-for profit sector where her ability to produce results using limited resources was developed and her expertise remains in the efficient and targeted delivery of specified outcomes.
Mia has extensive experience of providing political and policy counsel at the highest level, having joined Decideum following more than a decade working across a variety of specialisms in the Scottish Government, including roles as Private Secretary to the First Minister and as a Policy Advisor in the First Minister’s Policy and Delivery Unit.
Mia is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of multiple projects across a range of pharmaceutical and medtech clients. Her work has a strong focus on strategic positioning and policy advocacy within the context of above brand or corporate issues, as well as market access and cross-stakeholder programmes at UK and European level.
Tom has experience supporting a wide range of clients; from large UK based multi-nationals, smaller companies with a pan-European presence, and pre-commercial start-ups from outside the UK. This diverse portfolio of clients has meant working across all HTA processes in England and the Devolved Nations, providing insight into the strategic positioning of new and legacy products within the local commissioning landscape, and helping to deliver multi-layered external stakeholder engagement programmes.
Claudia returned to Decideum in May 2016, after spending 3 months at Decideum during 2015. She has experience working on a wide range of healthcare issues and disease areas including ATMPs, dermatology, rare disease, neurology and oncology. Claudia has worked on a variety of successful projects involving HTA submissions, local commissioning support and strategic national market access programmes. Outside of work Claudia takes a keen interest in music, art and film.
Head of Research
Kate graduated from the University of Sussex with a first-class degree in Biochemistry and her strong research background was developed through involvement with multidisciplinary scientific research laboratories (from drug discovery to DNA sequencing). Kate maintains an avid interest in current affairs and governmental policy and developed her German language skills whilst working for a start-up in Berlin. Kate has a keen interest in climate change and outside work appreciates film, live music and running.
Fil’s background is rooted in public policy research and communications. Having previously worked for political consultancy Portland Communications as well as parliamentary research agency DeHavilland. Fil has spent years delivering crucial political intelligence to clients from across the pharmaceutical industry. He is a graduate in politics from University of Sussex, and holds an MA degree in Politics and Contemporary History from King’s College London. Outside the office, Fil may be found making the pilgrimage to his beloved Fulham FC every fortnight. He also has a keen interest in British politics, tennis, and music.
Will graduated from the University of Nottingham with a degree in Human Geography. Before joining us at Decideum, Will developed his skills during a nine month internship at the market research agency Populus. Will has a keen interest in politics and their impact on society and the environment. Will also has an avid interest in rugby, music and travel.
Chris graduated with a first class degree in politics and philosophy from the University of Sheffield in 2016. He then completed a global health internship at the Royal Institute of International Affairs at Chatham House where he developed his research and analytical skills before joining Decideum. Alongside his work at Decideum, Chris is also studying for an MSc in Global Health at King’s College London. Outside of work Chris enjoys climbing, pub quizzes and has a keen interest in music.
Sebastian is a graduate in Geography from Durham University, with a keen interest in geopolitical issues. After university, he worked in policy and communications for a foreign policy think tank based in Westminster, gaining experience in domestic politics. His love of current affairs and politics led him to return to academia and complete a Master’s in Politics at the London School of Economic and Political Science (LSE). Prior to joining Decideum, he worked in health policy and PR. Outside of work Sebastian enjoys reading 19th century Russian literature and is a passionate sportsman, belonging to his local rugby and cricket teams.
Carol has worked alongside Berkeley Greenwood for some fourteen years in the capacity of Office Manager. The focal point of the team, Carol’s role encompasses day-to-day administration, liaison with politicians and clients, supervision of accounting activity, personnel matters, office services, and organising travel and events for colleagues and clients. Carol has many years experience in the marketing and product development field, working for companies with varied top end products and interests. With a sharp eye for art, Carol also spends her free time reading, gardening and cooking.
